The Bluebell Lunch

For 40 years, Aid Cancer Treatment has been quietly supporting Cancer Patients and their families all throughout Cork and its surrounds.

Bluebell Lunch
This year we celebrated our 40th birthday as an Organisation by hosting the first annual Bluebell Lunch fundraising event which took place on November 12th 2023 at the Rochestown Park Hotel. The entire event was a remarkable success raising in excess of €9,000. These funds will as always be used to improve the care and comfort of cancer patients and their families throughout the region.

This will go toward the improvement of all facilities and services available for cancer patients in Cork University Hospital, as part of our continuing effort to raise funds to invest in new developments for the provision of cancer services in the Cork University Hospital.

We are all very proud at the success of the day which was underscored by the joy and fun had by all. When the committee first began to discuss holding such an event, we had hoped for perhaps a turnout of around 75 or so guests and perhaps 10 or so spot prizes. In the end, there was over 200 tickets sold to the event and 2 dozen prizes were provided. What a huge but such a pleasant shock to us all. As usual the kindness and generosity of the Cork people has shone through, and we are all so grateful.

Entertainment was provided by the choir at St. Vincents who were joined by the international baritone voice of Joe Corbett, and they were simply outstanding. The choir were infectiously entertaining, and they had the entire room singing along throughout the afternoon. Joe was a true gent on the day and sang some local classics. The fields of Athenry in particular, got a massive response from all the guests.

Thank you to all those who attended, your smiles as you left the function room, were heartwarming to us all. We cannot wait to see you all again at the 2nd annual Bluebell Lunch. The planning has already begun.

The entire A.C.T. committee as well as all of the volunteers who helped on the day would like to thank all of our sponsors and supporters on the day. Both the individuals as well as local businesses who were so kind to donate to such a worthy cause. We would also like to thank those who provided all the spot prizes for our raffle on the day.

We would also like to thank the Rochestown Park Hotel for accommodating us on the day. The crew there were great and too helpful for words. Thanks again also to the great entertainers on the day. Below is a list of our partners and sponsors for the event and links to their own sites, and we again would like to issue our eternal thanks to them all.
