FLOW CYTOMETRY MACHINE

ACT are now raising funds for a Flow Cytometry Machine (cost €230,000) – this machine can be used in research to discover new treatments that target cancer cells using immune cells.
The research aims to find ways to grow immune cells from the blood of any healthy donor outside the body which can efficiently kill cancer cells left behind after surgery.
The aim is to discover new ways to prevent the return of tumours after surgery by boosting anti-tumour immune response with immunotherapy treatments to the site of where tumour was removed.
Local access to a Flow Cytometry Machine in Cork University Hospital will help us to achieve this aim.
